VFW Post #969 — Tacoma, WA. Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 969, meeting — Tacoma, WA.
- VFW Post #969
- Tacoma, WA
In 1957 a handful of veterans chartered Post 969 — Tacoma, WA. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the comrades hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The regular meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the comrades stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Tacoma, WA.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Tacoma
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 969 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Tacoma.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Tacoma, WA.
