VFW Post 6844 Jerome Dechant, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 6844 — Sharon Spgs, KS. The post dates to 1941, when veterans home from the World Wars wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Sharon Spgs. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
Meetings are the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Sharon Spgs. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 6844 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Sharon Spgs.
