Purpose

VFW Post #6570

Blue Ridge GA

VFW Post 6570 Fannin County, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 6570 — Blue Ridge, GA. The post dates to 1965, when veterans home from the Second World War and Korea wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.

People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Blue Ridge. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.

The regular meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the comrades stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Blue Ridge, GA.

    Notes from the first meeting

VFW Post 6570 Fannin County. The year opens the usual way: a short meeting, a full pot of coffee, and a list of local families the post already knows. The comrades voted to keep the spring scholarship on the calendar and to pass the word person to person — Blue Ridge, GA.

Showing up for the spring scholarship — Blue Ridge

By spring the hall had the spring scholarship underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 6570 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Blue Ridge.

What the notebook says so far

Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Blue Ridge, GA.
