- VFW Post #5715
- Big Stone Gap, VA
In 1941 a handful of veterans chartered Post 5715 — Big Stone Gap, VA. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the comrades hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Big Stone Gap. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

What the notebook says so far

The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Big Stone Gap, VA.
