- Creve Coeur, IL
VFW Post 4835 Martin Courtney. Its post has met since 1949 — Creve Coeur, IL. The charter came in the years after the Second World War and Korea, and the comrades who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Creve Coeur. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
Meetings are the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM, at the hall — Creve Coeur. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Creve Coeur
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 4835 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Creve Coeur.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Creve Coeur, IL.
