In 1929 a handful of veterans chartered Post 2203 — Shell Knob, MO. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Shell Knob. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.

By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 2203 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Shell Knob. - Aug 21, 2026
