VFW Post 12198 Stephen Gibbs Memorial, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 12198 — Las Vegas, NV. The post dates to 1960, when veterans home from the Second World War and Korea wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Las Vegas. The comrades would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the comrades stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Las Vegas, NV.

Showing up for the Memorial Day wreath — Las Vegas
By spring the hall had the Memorial Day wreath underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 12198 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Las Vegas.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Las Vegas, NV.
