Legion Post — Turtle Lake, ND. A post since 1964 — Turtle Lake, ND.
- Legion Post
- Turtle Lake, ND
In 1964 a handful of veterans chartered Post — Turtle Lake, ND. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM, at the hall — Turtle Lake. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Turtle Lake
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Turtle Lake.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Turtle Lake, ND.
