American Legion Post 281 Tyler Cates
Legion Post #281 — Mount Juliet, TN. Service and a meeting hall — Mount Juliet.
- Legion Post #281
- Mount Juliet, TN
In 1962 a handful of veterans chartered Post 281 — Mount Juliet, TN. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Mount Juliet. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the Legionnaires stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Mount Juliet, TN.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — Mount Juliet
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 281 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Mount Juliet.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Mount Juliet, TN.
