- China Grove, NC
American Legion Post 185 Freeze-Seymour, the American Legion Post 185 — China Grove, NC. The post dates to 1926, when veterans home from the World Wars wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the post for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — China Grove. The Legionnaires would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the Legionnaires stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — China Grove, NC.
