American Legion Post 166 Arnold Vern Allen Fl, the American Legion Post 166 — Homosassa Spg, FL. The post dates to 1964, when veterans home from the Second World War and Korea wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are the first Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Homosassa Spg. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — Homosassa Spg
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 166 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Homosassa Spg.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Homosassa Spg, FL.
