- Green Forest, AR
American Legion Post 162 Jordan Davis. Its post has met since 1929 — Green Forest, AR. The charter came in the years after the World Wars, and the Legionnaires who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
Meetings are the first Thursday at 7:00 PM, at the hall — Green Forest. This page is a sample so neighbors can see the shape of the work. The group itself has not claimed the page, so the stories here are an illustration, written in the voice the post might use.

Notes from the first meeting
American Legion Post 162 Jordan Davis. The year opens the usual way: a short meeting, a full pot of coffee, and a list of local families the post already knows. The Legionnaires voted to keep the spring scholarship on the calendar and to pass the word person to person — Green Forest, AR.

Showing up for the spring scholarship — Green Forest
By spring the hall had the spring scholarship underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 162 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Green Forest.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the first Thursday at 7:00 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Green Forest, AR.
