American Legion Post 1276
Legion Post #1276 — Syracuse, NY. Service and a meeting hall — Syracuse.
- Legion Post #1276
- Syracuse, NY
In 1956 a handful of veterans chartered Post 1276 — Syracuse, NY. From that first meeting the post grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the Legionnaires hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
The regular meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the Legionnaires stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Syracuse, NY.

Notes from the first meeting
American Legion Post 1276. The year opens the usual way: a short meeting, a full pot of coffee, and a list of local families the post already knows. The Legionnaires voted to keep a Saturday of hall repairs on the calendar and to pass the word person to person — Syracuse, NY.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — Syracuse
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Post 1276 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Syracuse.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the post looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM. This note is a sample of how the post might tell that year — Syracuse, NY.
