Silver City #45. Its detachment has met since 1948 — Meriden, CT. The charter came in the years after the Second World War and Korea, and the members who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
People point to the detachment for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Meriden. The members would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
