Leathernecks of the North #353. Its detachment has met since 1946 — Arbor Vitae, WI. The charter came in the years after the Second World War and Korea, and the members who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.

Notes from the first meeting

By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 353 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Arbor Vitae.

Late summer the detachment looked back at the notebook.
