Cowtown #1480, the Marine Corps League Detachment 1480 — Fort Worth, TX. The detachment dates to 1981, when veterans home from Vietnam and the years that followed wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the detachment for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Fort Worth. The members would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is 1st Tuedsday, 7:00 PM; Thursday: 1st Thursday, 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the members stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Fort Worth, TX.

Showing up for the winter gift drive — Fort Worth
By spring the hall had the winter gift drive underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 1480 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — Fort Worth.
