LtGen Victor "Brute" Krulak #1415. Its detachment has met since 1983 — Hoover, AL. The charter came in the years after Vietnam and the years that followed, and the members who stayed treated the monthly meeting as a standing promise: show up, look after one another, and leave the town a little better.
The work is ordinary and steady. A flag detail at a funeral. A winter drive that fills a corner of the hall with gifts. A scholarship evening where the members hand an envelope to a student and then go back to the coffee. None of it is loud. All of it is the point of the charter.
