Pittsfield #137, the Marine Corps League Detachment 137 — Pittsfield, MA. The detachment dates to 1981, when veterans home from Vietnam and the years that followed wanted a room of their own and a way to keep serving after the uniform came off.
People point to the detachment for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — Pittsfield. The members would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is 1st Wednesday, 7:00 PM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the members stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — Pittsfield, MA.
