- MCL Detachment #1020
- ROME, GA
- 2nd Saturday, 9:00 AM
In 1957 a handful of veterans chartered Detachment 1020 — ROME, GA. From that first meeting the detachment grew into a hall that still marks the year with a memorial service, a community project, and a table full of people who know one another’s stories.
People point to the detachment for the Memorial Day observance and for the quieter help that never makes a program — ROME. The members would rather be useful than famous, which is why the hall still smells like coffee on meeting night.
The regular meeting is 2nd Saturday, 9:00 AM. Anyone planning to visit should confirm the night before they come, because a funeral detail or a weather delay can move it. Between meetings the members stay in touch the old way: at the hall, and through the officers listed on this sample site — ROME, GA.

Showing up for a Saturday of hall repairs — ROME
By spring the hall had a Saturday of hall repairs underway. Nothing about it was complicated. The Detachment 1020 set a date, split the jobs, and showed up. A few neighbors who are not members came for the afternoon and stayed to ask about the next meeting — ROME.

What the notebook says so far
Late summer the detachment looked back at the notebook. The honor detail had been out more than once, the community table had fed a crowded room, and the officers reminded everyone that the next business meeting is 2nd Saturday, 9:00 AM. This note is a sample of how the detachment might tell that year — ROME, GA.
