Scholarship evening

The scholarship is modest on purpose. A real check every year is better than a large promise that gets missed. A short note on service is read by students, then the family comes to the hall on a weeknight — Redwood City, CA.

The Legionnaires listen, hand over the envelope, and eat cake. The evening is also how younger neighbors meet the post. A few of them come back later as members.
